Netflix has been known for taking a good thing, trying to add to it, and having that not go so well (I’d cite follow-up Arrested Development seasons and the El Camino Breaking Bad movie as examples of that). It really does seem like the series should not move forward without its original creators, and if they disagreed with the direction of the show, that certainly does seem like a reason to be nervous about it. Dan Lin and his Rideback team seem to be the ones in charge now, and Nickelodeon is still on board as it appears that they, not DiMartino and Konietzko, have the necessary rights to make that happen.
